Spectators: 43 (Terracing: 33, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Joaquim Delgado took the kick off in the first half of the match. Joaquim Delgado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wilson Amorim made a fantastic save in the 6th minute, when Heigo Luiga sent off a good shot on target. 11 minutes into the match, Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Joaquim Delgado. Heigo Luiga could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Wilson Amorim made a huge save. In the 14thth minute of the game Joaquim Delgado who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Portugal's Wilson Amorim was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Mike van Kampen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Pimentel, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. The Portugal fans' excitement grew in the 19th match minute when Portugal's Viriato Moura looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 22nd match minute, Portugal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Pimentel to maneuver through the defense. In the 23rd minute, Tord Böcklund hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 25 minutes into the match, Matos Velhos's goal looked a bit too open when Viriato Moura came free, but Mike van Kampen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Portugal's Viriato Moura got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Heigo Luiga could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Wilson Amorim made a huge save. 42 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Heigo Luiga came free, but Wilson Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 45th minute, Joaquim Delgado reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Wilson Amorim. The goal made the score 1-1. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Viriato Moura stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Portugal's Viriato Moura sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mike van Kampen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Viriato Moura in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mike van Kampen saved Matos Velhos from getting behind. Bruno Bastos charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bruno Bastos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 59 minutes into the match, Joaquim Delgado notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Portugal's Wilson Amorim. Wilson Amorim was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Portugal's Wilson Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Heigo Luiga in the 61st minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Joaquim Delgado in the 62nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wilson Amorim prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match clock showed 62 minutes, the score became 3-1 when Joaquim Delgado sped through Portugal's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Wilson Amorim. 69 minutes into the match, Matos Velhos's goal looked a bit too open when Caetano Moreira came free, but Mike van Kampen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wilson Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sabino Vilhena, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Mike van Kampen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caetano Moreira in the 77th minute of play. Fabricio Andrade took the ball and in the 82 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mike van Kampen. Mike van Kampen dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. Matos Velhos's Henrique Candal was substituted for Heigo Luiga. In the 87th minute, Joaquim Delgado made a precise shot to the right of Wilson Amorim. Portugal's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-2. Mike van Kampen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Felipinho Amorim in the 89th minute. Daniel Pimentel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Mike van Kampen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 96th match minute, Portugal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Caetano Moreira to maneuver through the defense. Matos Velhos were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Portugal for a fine match.
