Donald Fenwick made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felipe Barreto in the 12th minute of play. After 13 minutes of play, Portugal's Felipe Barreto made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. In the 23rd minute Caetano Moreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donald Fenwick saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 26 played minutes Portugal got a freekick which was hit by Bruno Bastos. Through an outstanding action, after 27 minutes, Wilson Amorim successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felipe Barreto in the 30th minute of play forced Memphis Grizzlies's goalkeeper Donald Fenwick to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Memphis Grizzlies getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Joachim Garate hit a great ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Caetano Moreira in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Donald Fenwick saved Memphis Grizzlies from getting behind. Stuart Banks took the ball and in the 85 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Wilson Amorim. Wilson Amorim dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. In the 89th minute Daniel Pimentel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donald Fenwick saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 90th minute Caetano Moreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donald Fenwick saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Donald Fenwick made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Felipinho Amorim sent off a good shot on target. Wilson Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ronny Theobold in the 93rd minute of the match. Portugal's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
