Antônio Peres was left in no man's land by his defense there! Felipe Barreto might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Antônio Peres. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Felipe Barreto ran back to his position shaking his head. Antônio Peres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felipe Barreto in the 13th minute of play. Adam Zaremba hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. 28 minutes into the game, one of Fluminense DF:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 39th match minute, Fluminense DF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfredo de Alcântara to maneuver through the defense. Caetano Moreira blasted a shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Antônio Peres having to make a save. In the 45th minute Viriato Moura shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antônio Peres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Antônio Peres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felipe Barreto in the 46th minute of the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Osvaldo Furlan made a kick off. In the 53rd match minute, Fluminense DF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luo Wei Xi to maneuver through the defense. Felipe Barretos short, quick shot in the 57thth minute got Antônio Peres to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Felipe Barreto in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Antônio Peres prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 67th minute, Felipe Barreto ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Antônio Peres was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Portugal's Bartolomeu Dias was substituted for Viriato Moura. Antônio Peres took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bartolomeu Dias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 77 minutes into the game, Felipinho Amorim cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. Antônio Peres was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Antônio Peres showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bartolomeu Dias, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. 82 minutes into the match, Portugal's Bartolomeu Dias sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Antônio Peres narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 84th minute Fluminense DF were awarded a corner. Liam Bray went to the cornerflag to take it. Wilson Amorim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Liam Bray, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Liam Bray had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Caetano Moreira hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Portugal defense, Liam Bray kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wilson Amorim. The Portugal fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wilson Amorim should have stopped the shot. Liam Bray fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilson Amorim having to interfere. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
