A collision led to Cruzeiro Esporte Clube getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Aloísio Vargas hit a great ball. Vinícius Macedo was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Jailson Batista. Barcellos Mineiro FC's Luiz Guilherme Garcia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vicente Chaves in the 12th minute of play. Luiz Paulo Fantini scored 0-1 in the 14th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luiz Guilherme Garcia, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Vinícius Macedo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jailson Batista, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vicente Chaves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Guilherme Garcia having to interfere. João Adolfo Hermes kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Jailson Batista 24 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. In the 30th minute, Tadeu Guerra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Anselmo Negri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Guilherme Garcia having to interfere. Vinícius Macedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jailson Batista in the 37th minute of play. 40 minutes into the game, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Anselmo Negri nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Luiz Guilherme Garcia made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Paulo Fantini in the 43rd minute of play forced Barcellos Mineiro FC's goalkeeper Luiz Guilherme Garcia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Amadeu Capixaba hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Anselmo Negri to strike the kick off in the second half. Rick Cabezon kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Luiz Guilherme Garcia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anselmo Negri, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Vicente Chaves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Luiz Guilherme Garcia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 82 played minutes Cruzeiro Esporte Clube got a freekick which was hit by Anselmo Negri. After a rather tough play, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Luiz Paulo Fantini got a free kick in the 84th minute. When the match clock showed 85 minutes, the score became 2-2 when Rick Cabezon sped through Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Vinícius Macedo. Luiz Guilherme Garcia stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Anselmo Negri's shot from short distance in the 89th minute. Luiz Paulo Fantini fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Guilherme Garcia having to interfere. Despite being the better team, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
