Spectators: 35 (Terracing: 27, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Montesclarense E.C.'s Paulão Medeiros started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd match minute, Montesclarense E.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gonçalo Diniz to maneuver through the defense. Jarbas Guedes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulão Medeiros, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. 8 minutes into the game, Paulão Medeiros cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Jarbas Guedes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 13th minute, Eurico Velloso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Inácio Figueiredo managed to get in a good position for a shot. S S Palestra Italia's supporters rose to their feet, but Inácio Figueiredo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edgard de Almeida breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. André Luís Schmidt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in S S Palestra Italia's zone, Wilson do Nascimento stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jarbas Guedes came out of the goal and Wilson do Nascimento tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Zé Roberto Moura fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edgard de Almeida having to interfere. After 27 played minutes Montesclarense E.C. got a freekick which was hit by Ernani Tavares. In the 30th minute, Nestor Bernal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 45 minutes into the match, S S Palestra Italia's goal looked a bit too open when Paulão Medeiros came free, but Jarbas Guedes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Inácio Figueiredo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Edgard de Almeida made a huge save. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Zé Roberto Moura made the kick off in the second half. Edgard de Almeida made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Inácio Figueiredo in the 52nd minute of play. Oséas Vasconcelos hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. In the 55th minute Inácio Figueiredo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgard de Almeida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The corner led S S Palestra Italia's Rony Tasso to fire away a dangerous shot which Edgard de Almeida despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Paulão Medeiros who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 61stth minute tested the skills of Jarbas Guedes when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Inácio Figueiredo hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. The supporters of S S Palestra Italia booed when Montesclarense E.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gonçalo Diniz didn't get a good kick on the ball. André Luís Schmidt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, S S Palestra Italia's Jarbas Guedes got control of the ball when Paulão Medeiros tried to sneak it across the goal line. Inácio Figueiredo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Edgard de Almeida tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edgard de Almeida stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Zé Roberto Moura's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind Montesclarense E.C.'s goalkeeper Edgard de Almeida, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. S S Palestra Italia's Jarbas Guedes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by André Luís Schmidt in the 92nd minute of play. Jarbas Guedes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from André Luís Schmidt in the 95th minute of play. Despite being the better team, Montesclarense E.C. failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
