Jeremy Nicholas made a fantastic save in the 6th minute, when Brock Friend sent off a good shot on target. In the 9th minute Brock Friend shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jeremy Nicholas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 13th minute Edgardo Silva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arthur Bufi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edgardo Silva's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Arthur Bufi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. A collision led to New England Minas getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Lalo Rosas hit a great ball. In the 21st minute, Enrique de Mendonça left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cruzeiro Esporte Clube fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. 24 minutes into the match, New England Minas's Edgardo Silva sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Arthur Bufi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 26th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Arthur Bufi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a little luck, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Arthur Bufi got control of the ball when Edgardo Silva tried to sneak it across the goal line.
