Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tony Pacheco in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Edgard de Almeida prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Montesclarense E.C.'s Edgard de Almeida played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tony Pacheco in the 13th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulão Medeiros in the 16th minute of play forced New England Minas's goalkeeper Jeremy Nicholas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tony Pacheco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Edgard de Almeida made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tony Pacheco in the 21st minute of play. In the 23rdth minute of the game André Luís Schmidt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but New England Minas's Jeremy Nicholas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 26 minutes into the match, Montesclarense E.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Edgardo Silva came free, but Edgard de Almeida reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 27th minute Edgardo Silva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgard de Almeida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. New England Minas's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jörgen Frohm in the 28th minute. Tony Pacheco made a great header on New England Minas's corner, it was just that Montesclarense E.C.'s Edgard de Almeida managed to reach the ball for a save. Tony Pacheco had several of the Montesclarense E.C.'s defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 34 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 3-0 score and a disappointed Edgard de Almeida as he didn't even see the shot coming. Tony Pacheco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Edgard de Almeida tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jeremy Nicholas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulão Medeiros, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edgardo Silva stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Tony Pacheco ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Edgard de Almeida was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-0. 55 minutes into the match, Montesclarense E.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Edgardo Silva came free, but Edgard de Almeida reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edgard de Almeida showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edgardo Silva in the 55th minute of the match. After 69 minutes of play, New England Minas's Tio Lio made it 6-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Edgard de Almeida was left in no man's land by his defense there! Emmitt Benson struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Edgard de Almeida didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for New England Minas. When André Luís Schmidt came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the Montesclarense E.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that André Luís Schmidt couldn't finish the play. Edgard de Almeida took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tio Lio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
