In the 43rd minute of the match EoDu Uai Sôccer got a corner. Montesclarense E.C.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Jardel Cabezon ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 45th minute Paulão Medeiros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José-Luis Chilavert saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice moves Paulão Medeiros could shoot a difficult shot in the 46th minute, which José-Luis Chilavert however easily saved by the left post. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Demetrio Cannata to make the kick off. EoDu Uai Sôccer's José-Luis Chilavert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mazinho Barral in the 78th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in EoDu Uai Sôccer's zone, Paulão Medeiros stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José-Luis Chilavert came out of the goal and Paulão Medeiros tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 82 minutes, Mazinho Barral managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Montesclarense E.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Mazinho Barral was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Paulão Medeiros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. José-Luis Chilavert tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. André Luís Schmidt took the ball and in the 89 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised José-Luis Chilavert. José-Luis Chilavert dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. The EoDu Uai Sôccer supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing EoDu Uai Sôccer would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
