Spectators: 10300 (Terracing: 7725, Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Samuil Bibin started the match with the kick off. U21 Austria's Thorsten Ternes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Samuil Bibin in the 4th minute of play. In the 7th minute, Jens Krammer fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Stoyadin Shahov, passed just outside the right post. Velislav Tzapov took the ball and in the 12 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Thorsten Ternes. Thorsten Ternes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Stoyadin Shahov made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Jens Krammer sent off a good shot on target. Thorsten Ternes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samuil Bibin in the 25th minute of play. U21 Bulgaria's Stoyadin Shahov proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save U21 Bulgaria from getting a goal against them. Thorsten Ternes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Velcho Tzintzov took the ball and in the 42 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Thorsten Ternes. Thorsten Ternes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. When the match clock showed 47 minutes, the score became 1-3 when Nico-Pascal Kapteina sped through U21 Bulgaria's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Stoyadin Shahov. After the first half U21 Bulgaria were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After 53 played minutes U21 Bulgaria got a freekick which was hit by Bozhko Shtúrkelov. 55 minutes into the match, Nico-Pascal Kapteina notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of U21 Bulgaria's Stoyadin Shahov. Stoyadin Shahov was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Samuil Bibin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 60th minute, Velislav Tzapov left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 Bulgaria fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-4. Thorsten Ternes came out of the goal in the 64th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Bulgaria's Velislav Tzapov. But to his dismay, Velislav Tzapov quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-5. Thorsten Ternes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Velislav Tzapov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Robin Schriebl fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stoyadin Shahov having to interfere. U21 Austria's Jan Haase was substituted for Robin Schriebl. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adem Ferrari in the 77th minute of play forced U21 Bulgaria's goalkeeper Stoyadin Shahov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Stoyadin Shahov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jens Krammer in the 82nd minute of the match. Samuil Bibin who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 84thth minute tested the skills of Thorsten Ternes when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Stoyadin Shahov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jens Krammer in the 88th minute of the match. U21 Austria were awarded a corner in the 89th minute after U21 Bulgaria's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jens Krammer took the corner. Stoyadin Shahov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edin Džeko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The U21 Bulgaria supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing U21 Bulgaria would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
