With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arnout Reekers prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 29th minute Lars Meesters shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antoni Poremba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Antoni Poremba stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lars Meesters's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Varsovia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wincenty Skorny didn't get a good kick on the ball. Antoni Poremba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Kajetan Bendyk's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Arnout Reekers read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. After 36 played minutes Varsovia got a freekick which was hit by Kajetan Bendyk. In the 37th match minute, Varsovia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wladyslaw Oborski to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Stefan Niemojewski managed to get in a good position for a shot. Varsovia's supporters rose to their feet, but Stefan Niemojewski was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arnout Reekers breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

With an all-out effort, Netherlands's Antoni Poremba threw himself towards the right post 67 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Varsovia's Antoni Poremba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 69th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cyryl Budrewicz during the 86th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When the match had gone on for 93 minutes, Lars Meesters took a quick shot and it went in 0-1 without a chance for Antoni Poremba to make any attempt to save it. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Netherlands walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
