The crowd rose to their feet as Denis Bonadona kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Orlando Nogueira. That made the score 1-1 in the 10 minute of play. In the 16th minute of the match AKI CORINTHIANS got a corner. Sporting de Gijón's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Alfred Schrijns ran over to the corner to take the kick. AKI CORINTHIANS's Ciro Brasil was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Dante Fernendo in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matias Bilintx in the 20th minute of play forced AKI CORINTHIANS's goalkeeper Orlando Nogueira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Juan Custódio hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. AKI CORINTHIANS's Orlando Nogueira proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save AKI CORINTHIANS from getting a goal against them. The audience was convinced that Matias Bilintx's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Orlando Nogueira was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in AKI CORINTHIANS's zone, Denis Bonadona stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Orlando Nogueira came out of the goal and Denis Bonadona tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Matias Bilintx received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Orlando Nogueira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ciro Brasil in the 42nd minute of play forced Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Dante Fernendo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 42 minutes into the game, AKI CORINTHIANS's Ciro Brasil nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dante Fernendo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. A collision led to AKI CORINTHIANS getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Anier Larra hit a great ball. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Matias Bilintx made a kick off. Matias Bilintx blasted a shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Orlando Nogueira having to make a save. Orlando Nogueira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matias Bilintx in the 54th minute of play. Matias Bilintx fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Orlando Nogueira having to interfere. Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Venancio Emesto replaced Denis Bonadona. In the 61st minute Ciro Brasil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Fernendo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When AKI CORINTHIANS's Ciro Brasil in the 65th minute got a chance for a shot 65th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The audience was convinced that Matias Bilintx's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Orlando Nogueira was relentless in the 86th minute of the game. Orlando Nogueira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matias Bilintx in the 88th minute of play. After 95 minutes of play, Sporting de Gijón's Saturnino Curcio made it 3-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Orlando Nogueira was left in no man's land by his defense there! Sporting de Gijón's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
