Mircea Mitulescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alan Rezek, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. The throw-in from Svatopluk Capek in the 10th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by AFC Napoca's Tiberiu Muntian. Bohumir Kohout charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Doru Burtescu to make the kick off. The supporters of AFC Napoca booed when Czech Republic was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erik Jilek didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Reynaldo Leite came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the AFC Napoca fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Reynaldo Leite couldn't finish the play. AFC Napoca's Reynaldo Leite got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. AFC Napoca made a substitution. Isac Rogoz replaced Albert Macri. After having played for 75 minutes Alan Rezek got an excellent opportunity and fired away a shot on goal, but Mircea Mitulescu was perfectly placed and executed a great save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Doru Burtescu in the 78th minute of play forced Czech Republic's goalkeeper Vavrinec Holub to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kvetoslav Janku's late challenge caught a AFC Napoca's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Reynaldo Leite fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vavrinec Holub having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Reynaldo Leite's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vavrinec Holub was relentless in the 86th minute of the game. When Doru Burtescu came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the AFC Napoca fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Doru Burtescu couldn't finish the play. Czech Republic's Vavrinec Holub played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Doru Burtescu in the 95th minute of play. AFC Napoca were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
