Nova Iguaçu MZFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sigfrido Auletta was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 7 minutes into the game, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Horaţiu Măcrinici nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Flavio Vittori made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. With a left leg Mickaël Maris saved Nova Iguaçu MZFC from getting behind. When the match had gone on for 27 minutes, Zaccheo Andolina put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Mickaël Maris. 30 minutes into the match, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goal looked a bit too open when Zaccheo Andolina came free, but Mickaël Maris reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 33 minutes Italy's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Renato Bezerra who took care of the corner kick. Mickaël Maris stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Zaccheo Andolina's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. 42 minutes into the match, Italy's Sigfrido Auletta sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mickaël Maris narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Mickaël Maris played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Porziano Marchitelli in the 43rd minute of play. Sigfrido Auletta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.
The wind increased when Horaţiu Măcrinici made the kick off in the second half. The corner led Italy's Siricio Liotta to a score. 1-4 in the 54th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Siricio Liotta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Italy's supporters rose to their feet, but Siricio Liotta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. After a defensive mix-up in Nova Iguaçu MZFC's zone, Eliseo Cutri stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mickaël Maris came out of the goal and Eliseo Cutri tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the Nova Iguaçu MZFC defense, Zaccheo Andolina kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mickaël Maris. The Nova Iguaçu MZFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mickaël Maris should have stopped the shot. Zaccheo Andolina received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Mickaël Maris tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Italy's Guiscardo Davide was substituted for Sigfrido Auletta. Italy made a substitution. Adriano Curto replaced Zaccheo Andolina. Italy played a much better game than Nova Iguaçu MZFC and deserved their victory. The Nova Iguaçu MZFC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
