In the 14th minute, Götz Dubach hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Velez getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Venancio Caton hit a great ball. In the 16th minute, Micah Macdonald sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Velez's Fulgencio Rioja didn't even have to move. Kyle Cox received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Fulgencio Rioja tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Khalid Kennedy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Enrique Arósio, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Khalid Kennedy was a little too slow when Enrique Arósio got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 25th minute. The score was now 2-0. With a little luck, England's Khalid Kennedy got control of the ball when Enrique Arósio tried to sneak it across the goal line. When England's Kyle Cox in the 33rd minute got a chance for a shot 33rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Velez's goalie prevented a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kyle Cox in the 35th minute of play forced Velez's goalkeeper Fulgencio Rioja to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Micah Macdonald received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Fulgencio Rioja tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Juan-Sebastián Torres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jedrzej Tomaka fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Khalid Kennedy having to interfere. In the 46th minute, Micah Macdonald got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 47th match minute, Velez was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Enrique Arósio to maneuver through the defense. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kyle Cox to strike the kick off in the second half. Kyle Cox recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 54th minute Juan-Sebastián Torres shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Khalid Kennedy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jedrzej Tomaka's late challenge caught a England's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jedrzej Tomaka helped the player get up and apologised. Kyle Cox who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 66thth minute tested the skills of Fulgencio Rioja when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 72ndth minute of the game Juan-Sebastián Torres who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but England's Khalid Kennedy was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Velez's Jedrzej Tomaka got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
