The referee ignored Czech Republic's protests and gave David Rusil a yellow card for diving instead. 14 minutes into the match, Czech Republic's goal looked a bit too open when Juan-Sebastián Torres came free, but Vavrinec Holub reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Juan-Sebastián Torres got free with Vavrinec Holub in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Juan-Sebastián Torres received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Vavrinec Holub tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee felt a red card was in order, 21 minutes into the game, when Svatopluk Capek put in a rough tackle. Vavrinec Holub went to the wrong direction when Enrique Arósio was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. In the 31st minute, Velez's Enrique Arósio dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Enrique Arósio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vavrinec Holub having to interfere. Vavrinec Holub took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juan-Sebastián Torres, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vavrinec Holub showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juan-Sebastián Torres, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Jindřich Přecechtěl's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vavrinec Holub read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. In the 43rd minute, Jedrzej Tomaka got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 46th minute, Bohumir Kohout hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Denis Dostal to make the kick off. Alan Rezek came free with the goalkeeper in the 52nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Fulgencio Rioja could save by the left post. If Jindřich Přecechtěl had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Czech Republic defense, Jindřich Přecechtěl kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vavrinec Holub. The Czech Republic fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vavrinec Holub should have stopped the shot. Enrique Arósio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vavrinec Holub made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. Vavrinec Holub stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jedrzej Tomaka's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. Jindřich Přecechtěl received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Vavrinec Holub tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Velez's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
