The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some careless play in the Winthont FC defense, Wim Wilmes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dennis Beerthuis. The Winthont FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dennis Beerthuis should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Winthont FC getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Rappo Rapado hit a great ball. Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 6th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Winthont FC. Dennis Beerthuis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gijsbert ter Kruimer struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Dennis Beerthuis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. Pascal Zalm scored 1-1 in the 20th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Arnout Reekers, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 28th minute Gustaaf Groeneveldt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dennis Beerthuis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Igor Fujara managed to get in a good position for a shot. Winthont FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Igor Fujara was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arnout Reekers breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Winthont FC's Dennis Beerthuis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 38th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 40 minutes, Pascal Zalm took a quick shot and it went in 2-2 without a chance for Arnout Reekers to make any attempt to save it. Abilio Pages kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Gijsbert ter Kruimer made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Igor Fujara in the 50th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 52nd minute of the match Winthont FC got a corner. Netherlands's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Sander Schaars ran over to the corner to take the kick. Abilio Pages made a great header on Winthont FC's corner, it was just that Netherlands's Arnout Reekers managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 52nd minute, Abilio Pages made a precise shot to the right of Arnout Reekers. Netherlands's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-2. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Winthont FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Sander Schaars in the 70th minute. The corner ended in Marc van Nistelrooij almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Netherlands's Arnout Reekers did a great save. Dennis Beerthuis didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Wim Wilmes went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-3 was the resulting score. Wim Wilmes took the ball and in the 85 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dennis Beerthuis. Dennis Beerthuis dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-4. Dennis Beerthuis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hermengildo Nesor, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hermengildo Nesor in the 94th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
