CS La Libertad's Agustin Barrantes was substituted for Nikos Valassiou. 71 minutes into the game, CS La Libertad's Rodrigo Lobo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Casper Claes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. In the 80th minute Yves Dervaux shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ernesto Monge saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Casper Claes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from İbrahim Efe Ergener in the 83rd minute of play. Edward Vanderstraeten might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ernesto Monge. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edward Vanderstraeten ran back to his position shaking his head. Through an outstanding action, after 88 minutes, Ernesto Monge successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After some careless play in the CS La Libertad defense, Edward Vanderstraeten kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ernesto Monge. The CS La Libertad fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ernesto Monge should have stopped the shot. The CS La Libertad supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Belgium's performance. The match ended with a win for Belgium.
