If Omar Toledo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 5 minutes in the game, Tony Thanos fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Gabriel Ascaso having to interfere. Rene Higuita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Omar Toledo in the 6th minute of the match. Gabriel Ascaso made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tony Thanos in the 8th minute. Spain's Gabriel Ascaso proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save Spain from getting a goal against them. 12 minutes into the match, Club Ibiza's goal looked a bit too open when Adria Bielsa came free, but Rene Higuita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gabriel Ascaso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edgardo Cosca in the 14th minute of the match. Bruno Fonso who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 23rdth minute tested the skills of Gabriel Ascaso when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Gabriel Ascaso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bruno Fonso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 30 minutes had been played when some careless play by Club Ibiza's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Omar Toledo was slow to take the kick. During this time Spain's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Vicente Merino almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Club Ibiza's Rene Higuita did a great save. In the 35thth minute of the game Gelu Cozmâncă who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Spain's Gabriel Ascaso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Club Ibiza's Cacey 武磊 got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Spain's Gabriel Ascaso proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save Spain from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Spain getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. David Aranda hit a great ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Omar Toledo to strike the kick off in the second half. Bruno Fonso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gabriel Ascaso having to interfere. In the 56th minute Bruno Fonso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gabriel Ascaso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rene Higuita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Omar Toledo, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Gabriel Ascaso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bruno Fonso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Omar Toledo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Rene Higuita made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Faustino Asprilla in the 71st minute of play forced Spain's goalkeeper Gabriel Ascaso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 73rd minute of the match Jon Cubero shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rene Higuita showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 81st minute, Edgardo Cosca made a precise shot to the right of Gabriel Ascaso. Spain's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Spain's Gabriel Ascaso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gelu Cozmâncă in the 83rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Spain's zone, Edgardo Cosca stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gabriel Ascaso came out of the goal and Edgardo Cosca tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tony Thanos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The Club Ibiza players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
