After 3 minutes, Cristian Naike made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Italy's Flavio Vittori tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Nicolas Roland's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Flavio Vittori firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 14th minute Zaccheo Andolina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elpidio Vitin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 16th minute, Zena Busacca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 17th minute of play forced Vélez Juniors's goalkeeper Elpidio Vitin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Zaccheo Andolina to make the kick off.
