Elpidio Vitin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adria Bielsa, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. After some careless play in the Vélez Juniors defense, Adria Bielsa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Elpidio Vitin. The Vélez Juniors fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Elpidio Vitin should have stopped the shot. In the 25th minute Cristian Naike shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gabriel Ascaso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 27 minutes had been played when some careless play by Spain's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Guido Luzaide was slow to take the kick. During this time Vélez Juniors's players had a chance to rest. Elpidio Vitin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Omar Toledo in the 29th minute of the match. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Omar Toledo was the one to do the kick off. 55 minutes into the match, Vélez Juniors's goal looked a bit too open when Adria Bielsa came free, but Elpidio Vitin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Spain's Omar Toledo was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Elpidio Vitin in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Elpidio Vitin stood somewhat misplaced when Vicente Merino came free in front of goal and shot 1-3 to the left of him in the 59 minute. Gabriel Ascaso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nicolas Roland in the 64th minute of the match. Despite this Gabriel Ascaso quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Guido Luzaide's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gabriel Ascaso read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 78th minute of play. The corner ended in Guido Luzaide almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Spain's Gabriel Ascaso did a great save. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sergio Ruiz in the 88th minute of play forced Vélez Juniors's goalkeeper Elpidio Vitin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 96th minute Pau Herrero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elpidio Vitin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elpidio Vitin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carles Cherro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Vélez Juniors's zone, Carles Cherro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elpidio Vitin came out of the goal and Carles Cherro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Spain's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
