Frank Lauria showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Quique Moreno, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. After 14 minutes Champions Iasi's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. In the 21st minute of the match, Vasile Mumuleanu tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Claudinho Taffarel saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After 23 minutes of play, Champions Iasi's Corneliu Lupescu made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Claudinho Taffarel was left in no man's land by his defense there! Gliwicka Torcida's attentive He Feng Wei managed to snatch the ball when Fritz Bergström made a throw-in in the 29th minute of the game. Frank Lauria showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Izydor Ciszewski in the 30th minute of the match. The Gliwicka Torcida fans' excitement grew in the 30th match minute when Gliwicka Torcida's Fabian Bator looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After some careless play in the Gliwicka Torcida defense, Iustin Coporan kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Claudinho Taffarel. The Gliwicka Torcida fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Claudinho Taffarel should have stopped the shot. Champions Iasi's Frank Lauria played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Izydor Ciszewski in the 37th minute of play. Róbert Pál-Szabó could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Claudinho Taffarel made a huge save. In the 41st minute Róbert Pál-Szabó shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claudinho Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 44 minutes into the match, Champions Iasi's goal looked a bit too open when Fabian Bator came free, but Frank Lauria reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The wind increased when Róbert Pál-Szabó made the kick off in the second half. Claudinho Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vasile Mumuleanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A sloppy throw-in by Cosmin Iureș in the 55th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Gliwicka Torcida's Iwan Pankowski. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fabian Bator in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Frank Lauria prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iustin Coporan in the 58th minute of play forced Gliwicka Torcida's goalkeeper Claudinho Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Quique Moreno came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Gliwicka Torcida fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Quique Moreno couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iustin Coporan in the 61st minute of play forced Gliwicka Torcida's goalkeeper Claudinho Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Champions Iasi's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Claudinho Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Corneliu Lupescu in the 72nd minute of play. With a little luck, Champions Iasi's Frank Lauria got control of the ball when Fabian Bator tried to sneak it across the goal line. Frank Lauria made an important save on a dangerous shot by Izydor Ciszewski in the 76th minute. Champions Iasi's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
