Filcho Slivkov took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 10th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Flavio Vittori. Italy's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 14th minute, Siricio Liotta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 16 minutes of play, Italy's Siricio Liotta made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Manfred Fribäck was left in no man's land by his defense there! Manfred Fribäck showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Siricio Liotta, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. In the 26th minute the ball was on its way in behind Norrlands Athen's goalkeeper Manfred Fribäck, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 29th minute Sigfrido Auletta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manfred Fribäck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Porziano Marchitelli blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Manfred Fribäck having to make a save. 31 minutes into the match, Zaccheo Andolina had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Manfred Fribäck. Norrlands Athen's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Zaccheo Andolina was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Filcho Slivkov kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nicolás Castillo to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicolás Castillo in the 51st minute of play forced Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Manfred Fribäck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Porziano Marchitelli, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Zena Busacca hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Norrlands Athen's Gilbert Hermansson was substituted for Nicolás Castillo. Zena Busacca kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilbert Hermansson in the 77th minute of play forced Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Italy made a substitution. Sansone Vanella replaced Gianpaolo Mascari. Norrlands Athen's Manfred Fribäck played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Siricio Liotta in the 86th minute of play. The Norrlands Athen fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Italy were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
