Hias Nüssli was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Everardo Rudolfo showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 12 minute of play. Jacinto Maurer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. During the 45th minute of the match Placido Handi completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Placido Handi a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
