The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With his leg Keld Paulsen managed to avoid a goal in the 4thth minute, when POPULAR F.C's Adriano Faria fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After 6 played minutes Denmark got a freekick which was hit by Lars Steen. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bjarne Kirkegaard during the 9th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Denmark getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Bjarne Kirkegaard hit a great ball. Denmark's Keld Paulsen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Duarte Camargo in the 15th minute of play. After 16 minutes, Denílson Prado mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the POPULAR F.C and the Denmark players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Denmark booed when POPULAR F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Denílson Prado didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in POPULAR F.C's zone, Bertram Svenningsen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emílio Messias came out of the goal and Bertram Svenningsen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A sloppy throw-in by Serginho do Vale in the 25th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Denmark's Lars Steen. A collision led to Denmark getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Chris Nygaard hit a great ball. 27 minutes into the match, Denmark's goalkeeper Keld Paulsen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Adriano Faria. Gláuber de Queiroz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Keld Paulsen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lars Steen kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Serginho do Vale made in the 34th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Kaká Fantini however managed to control. Emílio Messias made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chris Nygaard in the 36th minute of play. In the 37th minute Denmark were awarded a corner. Chris Nygaard went to the cornerflag to take it. When Serginho do Vale fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored POPULAR F.C's protests and gave Serginho do Vale a yellow card for diving instead. Serginho do Vale hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. In the 47th match minute, POPULAR F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Máximo Gold to maneuver through the defense. After the first half Denmark were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Adriano Faria made a kick off. Keld Paulsen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Duarte Camargo, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. 54 minutes into the match, Denmark's goal looked a bit too open when Adriano Faria came free, but Keld Paulsen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 56th minute of the match Gláuber de Queiroz sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Keld Paulsen skillfully saved the ball. If Bertram Svenningsen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. POPULAR F.C's Gugu Teles was substituted for Adriano Faria. The audience thought a goal was coming when Chris Nygaard got free with Emílio Messias in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 64 minutes into the game, Bertram Svenningsen cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Emílio Messias was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of POPULAR F.C booed when Denmark was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Simon Bendtsen didn't get a good kick on the ball. 72 minutes into the match, POPULAR F.C's goalkeeper Emílio Messias had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Chris Nygaard. In the 76th minute, Denmark's Bertram Svenningsen ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Emílio Messias. Emílio Messias yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. Keld Paulsen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hílton Martins in the 79th minute of play. After some careless play in the Denmark defense, Gugu Teles kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Keld Paulsen. The Denmark fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Keld Paulsen should have stopped the shot. A throw-in in the 88th minute of the game was made by Serginho do Vale with Kaká Fantini as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Máximo Gold kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. When the final whistle sounded Denmark left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than POPULAR F.C.
