After 18 minutes, Eric Pășcuțoiu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Academia Rio and the Netherlands players grew even worse after the yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Gustaaf Groeneveldt was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gigel Tilea breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Sergiu Coșeriu fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Academia Rio's protests and gave Sergiu Coșeriu a yellow card for diving instead. In the 21st minute, Sergiu Coșeriu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gigel Tilea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 23rd minute of the match. Academia Rio's Gigel Tilea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 48th minute of play. The Academia Rio players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Netherlands were winning 0-3.

The wind increased when Marin Giubelean made the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Codrin Ionete came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gigel Tilea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. In the 54th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gigel Tilea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gigel Tilea prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot. When Gijsbert ter Kruimer came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gijsbert ter Kruimer couldn't finish the play. In the 73rd minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gigel Tilea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gustaaf Groeneveldt's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Gigel Tilea firmly grabbed it by the left post. The crowd rose to their feet as Gijsbert ter Kruimer kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gigel Tilea. That made the score 0-4 in the 82 minute of play. Wim Wilmes in the 86thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Gigel Tilea, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 88thth minute of the game Gijsbert ter Kruimer who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Academia Rio's Gigel Tilea was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 89 minutes Academia Rio's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gijsbert ter Kruimer who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Gijsbert ter Kruimer almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Academia Rio's Gigel Tilea did a great save. With a little luck, Academia Rio's Gigel Tilea got control of the ball when Gustaaf Groeneveldt tried to sneak it across the goal line.
