When the match had gone on for 18 minutes, Lars Meesters put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Lucas Blöcker. AUSTRAL BOWLING CLUB's Lucas Blöcker played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lars Meesters in the 20th minute of play. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gijsbert ter Kruimer stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Lars Meesters's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lucas Blöcker was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ermegildo Oliverio, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Netherlands had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
