After taking down the ball on Italy's corner Sigfrido Auletta fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Stefanos Salepis quite easily take care of the ball. In the 9th minute Nedim Emekli shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavio Vittori saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Flavio Vittori showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miltos Makris, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nedim Emekli stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Flavio Vittori stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nedim Emekli's shot from short distance in the 52nd minute. The audience was convinced that Zaccheo Andolina's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Stefanos Salepis was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Siricio Liotta in the 79th minute of play forced Mean Machine's goalkeeper Stefanos Salepis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Stefanos Salepis was a little too slow when Zaccheo Andolina got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 80th minute. The score was now 1-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Adriano Curto got free with Stefanos Salepis in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adriano Curto in the 93rd minute of play forced Mean Machine's goalkeeper Stefanos Salepis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 95 minutes, Adriano Curto took a quick shot and it went in 1-4 without a chance for Stefanos Salepis to make any attempt to save it. When the final whistle sounded Italy left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Mean Machine.
