The referee ignored Dacians Academy's protests and gave Virgill van Dijk a yellow card for diving instead. Virgill van Dijk hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. Stelian Butuc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gino Galante in the 3rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iwo Tamulewicz in the 13th minute of play forced The Owls's goalkeeper Jan-Åke Emander to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Stelian Butuc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Recep Talha Kutyan in the 18th minute of the match. Matei Panciu came free with the goalkeeper in the 20th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Jan-Åke Emander could save by the left post. Matei Panciu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jan-Åke Emander having to interfere. Ali Kağan Özpulat hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. In the 30th minute, Iwo Tamulewicz reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jan-Åke Emander. The goal made the score 1-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Iwo Tamulewicz in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jan-Åke Emander saved The Owls from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in The Owls's zone, Matei Panciu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jan-Åke Emander came out of the goal and Matei Panciu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 41st minute of the match The Owls got a corner. Dacians Academy's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Recep Talha Kutyan ran over to the corner to take the kick. A collision led to Dacians Academy getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Matei Panciu hit a great ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gino Galante made a kick off. Jan-Åke Emander stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Iwo Tamulewicz's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. Jan-Åke Emander took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Iwo Tamulewicz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 62 minutes into the match, The Owls's goal looked a bit too open when Matei Panciu came free, but Jan-Åke Emander reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 65th minute Matei Panciu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan-Åke Emander saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to The Owls getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Ubarna Harroyo hit a great ball. Dacians Academy made a substitution. Ferdinand Zdraşcu replaced Remus Armeanca. The supporters of Dacians Academy booed when The Owls was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ubarna Harroyo didn't get a good kick on the ball. 73 minutes into the match, The Owls's goal looked a bit too open when Xavi Popescu came free, but Jan-Åke Emander reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gino Galante got free with Stelian Butuc in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Ubarna Harroyo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jan-Åke Emander made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. The Owls's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
