Spectators: 44 (Terracing: 34, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Gijsbert ter Kruimer took the kick off in the first half of the match. Benedicto Atarratze might have been able to make a better finish in the 8th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arnout Reekers. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Benedicto Atarratze ran back to his position shaking his head. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benedicto Atarratze, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Abid Bubalo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Arnout Reekers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Benedicto Atarratze blasted a shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Arnout Reekers having to make a save. In the 14th minute Benedicto Atarratze shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wim Wilmes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 20th minute of play forced Selebi-Phikwe's goalkeeper Christof Deroek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Christof Deroek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 23rd minute of play. Christof Deroek took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 26th minute of play forced Selebi-Phikwe's goalkeeper Christof Deroek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute Gustaaf Groeneveldt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christof Deroek saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Christof Deroek took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benedicto Atarratze in the 32nd minute of the match. Gijsbert ter Kruimer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Christof Deroek showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 41st minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

53 minutes into the match, Selebi-Phikwe's Benedicto Atarratze sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Arnout Reekers narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 55th minute of the match Selebi-Phikwe got a corner. Netherlands's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Abid Bubalo ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Abid Bubalo almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Netherlands's Arnout Reekers did a great save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benedicto Atarratze in the 57th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 63rd match minute, Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by David Eikelkamp to maneuver through the defense. Wim Wilmes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christof Deroek having to interfere. Selebi-Phikwe made a substitution. Rein Lombaert replaced Erik Van Buyten. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benedicto Atarratze in the 69th minute of play. Selebi-Phikwe's Rubinho de Castro was substituted for Marc Thidén. Selebi-Phikwe's Cléberson Neves was substituted for Benedicto Atarratze. After a defensive mix-up in Netherlands's zone, Cléberson Neves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arnout Reekers came out of the goal and Cléberson Neves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 80 minutes of play, Netherlands's Wim Wilmes made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Christof Deroek was left in no man's land by his defense there! Selebi-Phikwe's Christof Deroek proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Selebi-Phikwe from getting a goal against them. Christof Deroek made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Wim Wilmes sent off a good shot on target. Cléberson Neves blasted a shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Arnout Reekers having to make a save. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cléberson Neves, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 94th minute of play forced Selebi-Phikwe's goalkeeper Christof Deroek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
