In the 17th minute Gustaaf Groeneveldt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Naldo Martins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 18 minutes into the game, Gustaaf Groeneveldt cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Naldo Martins was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Futuros FC's zone, Wim Wilmes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Naldo Martins came out of the goal and Wim Wilmes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 25th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bem Bom in the 26th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Futuros FC booed when Netherlands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lars Meesters didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wim Wilmes scored 1-3 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Naldo Martins, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Naldo Martins having to interfere. Naldo Martins didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer went, in the 42nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-5 was the resulting score. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gijsbert ter Kruimer made a kick off. Gustaaf Groeneveldt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Naldo Martins made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Futuros FC's Luís Guilherme Romero got a free kick in the 54th minute. After having played for 55 minutes, Wim Wilmes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wim Wilmes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 57th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Netherlands fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-6. With a little luck, Futuros FC's Naldo Martins got control of the ball when Wim Wilmes tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 60th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Papi Hamburger in the 64th minute of the match. Naldo Martins made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Wim Wilmes sent off a good shot on target. In the 69th match minute, Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lars Meesters to maneuver through the defense.
