Germany's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that CJ Townsley was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Grant Groves who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 19thth minute tested the skills of Tommy Kahn when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Frank Sachs was the one to do the kick off.
