With an extended leg and a bit of luck Genaro Montez prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 22 minutes into the match, Sixto Nesto notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Portugal's Wilson Amorim. Wilson Amorim was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felipe Barreto in the 27th minute of play forced Lucio Quieto's goalkeeper Genaro Montez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Genaro Montez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Viriato Moura, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Genaro Montez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felipe Barreto in the 35th minute of the match. Lucio Quieto's Genaro Montez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felipe Barreto in the 37th minute of play. Daniel Pimentel might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Genaro Montez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Daniel Pimentel ran back to his position shaking his head. A throw-in in the 41st minute of the game was made by Bruno Bastos with Daniel Pimentel as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

In the 52nd match minute, Lucio Quieto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Isidro Navarro to maneuver through the defense. Portugal's Viriato Moura got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lucio Quieto's Genaro Montez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Viriato Moura in the 60th minute of play. 62 minutes into the match, Lucio Quieto's goal looked a bit too open when Felipe Barreto came free, but Genaro Montez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sixto Nesto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wilson Amorim read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. The Portugal fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. Lucio Quieto's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
