Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vladimir Lara, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. In the 16th minute Vladimir Lara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Fiori Mota tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With an all-out effort, Vila Nova FC's Arnout Reekers threw himself towards the right post 34 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Bill Coekx, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bill Coekx, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 41st minute Vladimir Lara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 45th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With splendid footwork Luca Postelnicescu arrived in front of goal to shoot 1-0 by the left pole in the game's 47th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luca Postelnicescu to make the kick off. Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 54thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Fiori Mota, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. If Gustaaf Groeneveldt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fiori Mota showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lars Meesters in the 60th minute of the match. 63 minutes into the game, Wim Wilmes recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Fiori Mota. Wim Wilmes showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Gijsbert ter Kruimer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 73rd minute, Mete Nared left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Vila Nova FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Mete Nared sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bill Coekx in the 84th minute of play. 85 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Luca Postelnicescu came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fiori Mota having to interfere. In the 94th minute, Vladimir Lara hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
