Metod Mlynar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Modesto Weterio having to interfere. Dan Dalman scored 1-0 in the 16th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Henrich Slany, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Modesto Weterio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Metod Mlynar in the 22nd minute of play. Narciso Xabat could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Henrich Slany made a huge save. The supporters of ᴄʟᴜʙ ᴀᴛʟᴇᴛɪᴄᴏ ᴛᴜᴄᴜᴍᴀɴ booed when Slovakia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zigmund Maliar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Modesto Weterio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Metod Mlynar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Henrich Slany showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Özcan Refah, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. In the 39th minute Dan Dalman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henrich Slany saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 42ndth minute of the game Narciso Xabat who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Slovakia's Henrich Slany was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Slovakia getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Vavrinec Koleno hit a great ball. Henrich Slany made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Narciso Xabat in the 44th minute of play. Henrich Slany took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Narciso Xabat, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Narciso Xabat was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd match minute, ᴄʟᴜʙ ᴀᴛʟᴇᴛɪᴄᴏ ᴛᴜᴄᴜᴍᴀɴ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arnaldo Cresconio to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the ᴄʟᴜʙ ᴀᴛʟᴇᴛɪᴄᴏ ᴛᴜᴄᴜᴍᴀɴ defense, Metod Mlynar kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Modesto Weterio. The ᴄʟᴜʙ ᴀᴛʟᴇᴛɪᴄᴏ ᴛᴜᴄᴜᴍᴀɴ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Modesto Weterio should have stopped the shot. 85 minutes into the match, Dan Dalman had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Henrich Slany. Slovakia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dan Dalman was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Özcan Refah struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Henrich Slany didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ᴄʟᴜʙ ᴀᴛʟᴇᴛɪᴄᴏ ᴛᴜᴄᴜᴍᴀɴ. An unexpectedly hard shot by Narciso Xabat in the 94th minute of play forced Slovakia's goalkeeper Henrich Slany to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. ᴄʟᴜʙ ᴀᴛʟᴇᴛɪᴄᴏ ᴛᴜᴄᴜᴍᴀɴ's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
