In the 14th minute Pedro Luís Batista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Didi Tróia having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Gualter Quirino hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 57th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Didi Tróia but with some difficulty. Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free with the goalkeeper in the 66th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Didi Tróia could save by the left post. 69 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastião Quintal came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, ContraVersão's George van Basten got a free kick in the 73rd minute. If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 85th match minute, ContraVersão was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elias Batista to maneuver through the defense.
