The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Thiago Leiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten in the 19th minute of play. After 22 minutes of play, Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Thiago Leiva was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Edward Vanderstraeten had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 33 minutes into the match, Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Thiago Leiva narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 35th minute of the match, Arturo Zapolski got a very nice opportunity to score, but Casper Claes was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Casper Claes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Delmiro Etxekopar, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. 60 minutes into the match, Edward Vanderstraeten had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Thiago Leiva. LEBEG Team's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Edward Vanderstraeten was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. In the 66th match minute, LEBEG Team was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Enrico Palmisano to maneuver through the defense. Edward Vanderstraeten could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Thiago Leiva made a huge save. With a little luck, LEBEG Team's Thiago Leiva got control of the ball when Edward Vanderstraeten tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Angel Maura fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored LEBEG Team's protests and gave Angel Maura a yellow card for diving instead. Belgium's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
