After 3 played minutes Cambotinha EC got a freekick which was hit by Sandrinho Donatello. Flávio Veloso's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Luisão Secco firmly grabbed it by the left post. Vascogoianiense FC were awarded a corner in the 14th minute after Cambotinha EC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. José Paulo de Barros took the corner. A collision led to Cambotinha EC getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Guilherme Porto hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling João Pirani in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck André Reis prevented the ball from getting in the gole. André Reis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Pirani in the 19th minute of play. André Reis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Angelo Maria, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. 25 minutes into the match, João Pirani had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of André Reis. Cambotinha EC's André Reis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Pirani in the 32nd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Flávio Veloso got free with Luisão Secco in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The audience was convinced that João Pirani's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but André Reis was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Paulo de Barros in the 39th minute of play forced Cambotinha EC's goalkeeper André Reis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luisão Secco made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Flávio Veloso sent off a good shot on target. André Reis came out of the goal in the 41st minute to try and stop a shot by Vascogoianiense FC's Angelo Maria. But to his dismay, Angelo Maria quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when João Pirani stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the game, Bob Oconnell was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vascogoianiense FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cambotinha EC the free kick. In the 54th minute, Bob Oconnell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the Cambotinha EC defense, Alexandre Tepedino kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of André Reis. The Cambotinha EC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that André Reis should have stopped the shot. Arlindo Abreu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Angelo Maria struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. André Reis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vascogoianiense FC. But to his dismay, José Paulo de Barros quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-7. In the 68th minute João Pirani shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but André Reis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. André Reis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Pirani, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. José Paulo de Barros received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. André Reis came out and tried to block the shot, but José Paulo de Barros slotted it home off the left post making it 0-8 in the 71st minute. In the 74th minute of the match, João Pirani tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but André Reis saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. José Paulo de Barros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Pirani in the 76th minute of play forced Cambotinha EC's goalkeeper André Reis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 80 minutes into the match, Cambotinha EC's goal looked a bit too open when João Pirani came free, but André Reis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bob Oconnell hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Luisão Secco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Flávio Veloso in the 88th minute of the match. Luisão Secco didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sandrinho Donatello went, in the 89th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-8 was the resulting score. Luisão Secco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cido Martins in the 92nd minute of play. Sandrinho Donatello charged in rather forcefully in the 95th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sandrinho Donatello the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Vascogoianiense FC booed when Cambotinha EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sandrinho Donatello didn't get a good kick on the ball.
