When the match clock showed 69 minutes, the score became 3-2 when Anfilogino Sasso sped through YR Mechelen's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Andries Van Mechelen. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC SOLOTHURN reached it. Andries Van Mechelen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gheorghe Hagi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Anfilogino Sasso in the 87th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Andries Van Mechelen prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gheorghe Hagi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andries Van Mechelen having to interfere. In the 96th minute, Gheorghe Hagi left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC SOLOTHURN fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-2. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. FC SOLOTHURN fully deserved thier win.
