When Basilio Fernandez came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Ruquense FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Basilio Fernandez couldn't finish the play. In the 14th minute of the match Ruquense FC got a corner. COURO COME FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Leopoldo Tonio ran over to the corner to take the kick. COURO COME FC's attentive Geovani Coutinho managed to snatch the ball when Adolfo Joseph made a throw-in in the 18th minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Ruquense FC's Remigio Quirze got a free kick in the 19th minute. François-Xavier Dionnet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nildo Chaves in the 26th minute of play. François-Xavier Dionnet took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nildo Chaves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Basilio Fernandez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Léo Sampaio made a huge save. In the 39th minute Remigio Quirze shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Léo Sampaio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. François-Xavier Dionnet showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iuri Cardozo, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
