Nuevo Horizonte's Baldomero Lapurdi got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Hias Nüssli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Baldomero Lapurdi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 13th minute, Honorato Transito hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 21st minute, Switzerland's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Baldomero Lapurdi fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Godfredo Jerrold during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. If Paulino Katia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nuevo Horizonte's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Switzerland the free kick. Feliberto Ramirez was shown his second yellow card after 67 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match.
