Arnout Reekers was a little too slow when D.J. Gol got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 3rd minute. The score was now 1-0. In the 5th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Karl-Johan Ahlqvist was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After some careless play in the Netherlands defense, Enzo-Nicolás Pérez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arnout Reekers. The Netherlands fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arnout Reekers should have stopped the shot. A sloppy throw-in by Gerardo Hitz in the 14th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Netherlands's David Eikelkamp. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gerardo Hitz in the 16th minute of play. Arnout Reekers made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when D.J. Gol sent off a good shot on target. If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerardo Hitz in the 31st minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Karl-Johan Ahlqvist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 33rd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Netherlands's Mathijn Doctor got a free kick in the 34th minute. In the 36th minute Gerardo Hitz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 37 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Gerardo Hitz came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 38 minutes of play, Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Karl-Johan Ahlqvist was left in no man's land by his defense there! The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gijsbert ter Kruimer to make the kick off. Karl-Johan Ahlqvist didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt went, in the 51st minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. 56 minutes into the match, Black Rose 1979's goalkeeper Karl-Johan Ahlqvist had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wim Wilmes. After a defensive mix-up in Netherlands's zone, Gerardo Hitz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arnout Reekers came out of the goal and Gerardo Hitz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 63rd minute of the match, Gijsbert ter Kruimer tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Karl-Johan Ahlqvist saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Gustaaf Groeneveldt's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Karl-Johan Ahlqvist firmly grabbed it by the left post. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from D.J. Gol in the 74th minute of play. After taking down the ball on Netherlands's corner Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Karl-Johan Ahlqvist quite easily take care of the ball. 87 minutes into the match, Black Rose 1979's goalkeeper Karl-Johan Ahlqvist had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer. If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Netherlands's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
