An unexpectedly hard shot by Gogo Fidele in the 11th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tomás Bonifaco didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Wim Wilmes went, in the 12th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 19 minutes had been played when some careless play by Netherlands's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gogo Fidele was slow to take the kick. During this time Torino FC's players had a chance to rest. It was a well-played corner which Pankracy Imbor managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. In the 21st minute, Netherlands's Bas Tuitert seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Bas Tuitert the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Netherlands protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Bas Tuitert had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 21st minute of the game. One of Netherlands:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Torino FC:s goal. In the 28th match minute, Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by David Eikelkamp to maneuver through the defense. After 29 played minutes, Torino FC's Silvério Madureira shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Arnout Reekers came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Torino FC reached it. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gogo Fidele in the 34th minute of the match. After the first half Netherlands were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Torino FC made a substitution. Arí da Fonseca replaced Hans-Hermann Spieler. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bartolo Ishmael to make the kick off. Wim Wilmes's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 54thth minute, Tomás Bonifaco skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Tomás Bonifaco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wim Wilmes in the 56th minute of play. Gustaaf Groeneveldt who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 64thth minute tested the skills of Tomás Bonifaco when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Torino FC's Gogo Fidele got a free kick in the 65th minute. In the 66th minute, David Eikelkamp hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tomás Bonifaco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 70th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wim Wilmes got free with Tomás Bonifaco in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Arí da Fonseca charged in rather forcefully in the 77th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Arí da Fonseca the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Torino FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arí da Fonseca didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wim Wilmes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Tomás Bonifaco made a huge save. The Netherlands players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
