Rune Jarstein made an important save on a dangerous shot by Valter Xabat in the 3rd minute. Alemannia Aachen's attentive Louis Leißner managed to snatch the ball when Stefan Mayer made a throw-in in the 11th minute of the game. With an all-out effort, Alemannia Aachen's Rune Jarstein threw himself towards the right post 12 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Valter Xabat, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Jess Carnduff didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Franz-Peter Patschull went, in the 13th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Louis Leißner hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. 21 minutes into the match, Alemannia Aachen's goal looked a bit too open when Rupert Heidingsfelder came free, but Jess Carnduff reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hertha 1969's Rune Jarstein played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Thomas Müller in the 22nd minute of play. Jess Carnduff made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rupert Heidingsfelder in the 26th minute of play. Jess Carnduff showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zé Paulo da Silva in the 29th minute of the match. If Valter Xabat had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Rune Jarstein showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valter Xabat, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rupert Heidingsfelder in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jess Carnduff saved Alemannia Aachen from getting behind. Rune Jarstein made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valter Xabat in the 35th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rupert Heidingsfelder in the 40th minute of play forced Alemannia Aachen's goalkeeper Jess Carnduff to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emilio Melzer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jess Carnduff having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gigel Elenescu during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Hertha 1969 getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Gigel Elenescu hit a great ball. Rune Jarstein took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manfred Kottsieper, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Rune Jarstein made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manfred Kottsieper in the 51st minute of play. In the 52nd minute Alemannia Aachen were awarded a corner. Manfred Kottsieper went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Manfred Kottsieper got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Rune Jarstein quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Jess Carnduff made an important save on a dangerous shot by Benedikt Bensch in the 55th minute. In the 56th minute, Rupert Heidingsfelder ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jess Carnduff was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. In the 60th minute Valter Xabat shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rune Jarstein saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rupert Heidingsfelder scored 0-3 in the 65th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jess Carnduff, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Alemannia Aachen were awarded a corner in the 72th minute after Hertha 1969's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Manfred Kottsieper took the corner. With a little luck, Alemannia Aachen's Jess Carnduff got control of the ball when Rupert Heidingsfelder tried to sneak it across the goal line. 80 minutes into the match, Alemannia Aachen's goalkeeper Jess Carnduff had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rupert Heidingsfelder. Jess Carnduff made an important save on a dangerous shot by Benedikt Bensch in the 83rd minute. After having played for 85 minutes, Rupert Heidingsfelder managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hertha 1969's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rupert Heidingsfelder was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 92nd minute of the game La Rat made a throw-in which Valter Xabat played forward. In the 95th minute, Stefan Mayer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hertha 1969's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
