Christophe Troxler didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. Arnout Reekers made an important save on a dangerous shot by Reuben Meade in the 9th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 11th minute, Wim Wilmes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Wim Wilmes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Christophe Troxler breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Christophe Troxler showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 13th minute of the match. After 18 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Bas Tuitert. Cresconio Bobis hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. 21 minutes into the match, Netherlands's Wim Wilmes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Christophe Troxler narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The throw-in from Reuben Meade in the 23rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Netherlands's Lars Meesters. Agustín Álvarez took the ball and in the 24 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Arnout Reekers. Arnout Reekers dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. 28 minutes into the game, Mathijn Doctor was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Netherlands's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Montevideo City Torque the free kick. Mathijn Doctor kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. In the 35th minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christophe Troxler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Christophe Troxler took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Leizaur in the 36th minute of play. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diego Covarrubias, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Christophe Troxler didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lars Meesters went, in the 40th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

During the 74th minute of the match Mathijn Doctor completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Mathijn Doctor a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 75th match minute, Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mathijn Doctor to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wim Wilmes got free with Christophe Troxler in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Leizaur, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lars Meesters in the 83rd minute of play forced Montevideo City Torque's goalkeeper Christophe Troxler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
