ŻÓŁTO-NIEBIESCY's Gwidon Sienkowski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Sachs in the 6th minute of play. In the 9th minute, Cristiano Shevchenko made a precise shot to the right of Tommy Kahn. Germany's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Gwidon Sienkowski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albin Holweck in the 13th minute of play. Cristiano Shevchenko's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tommy Kahn read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 15th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Frank Sachs's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gwidon Sienkowski was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. Tommy Kahn didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bogdan Zakrzewski went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Gwidon Sienkowski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frank Sachs in the 35th minute of play. In the 37thth minute of the game Cristiano Shevchenko who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Germany's Tommy Kahn was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 39 played minutes ŻÓŁTO-NIEBIESCY got a freekick which was hit by Beniamin Wierzchowski. The supporters of Germany booed when ŻÓŁTO-NIEBIESCY was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kazimierz Huchro didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Frank Sachs to make the kick off. Germany's Frank Sachs got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cristiano Shevchenko took the ball and in the 55 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tommy Kahn. Tommy Kahn dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. If Zbyszek Cwenar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Albin Holweck might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gwidon Sienkowski. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Albin Holweck ran back to his position shaking his head. Cristiano Shevchenko kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Frank Sachs could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Gwidon Sienkowski made a huge save. 75 minutes into the match, ŻÓŁTO-NIEBIESCY's goalkeeper Gwidon Sienkowski had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Frank Sachs. A throw-in in the 80th minute of the game was made by Kazimierz Huchro with Zbyszek Cwenar as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. After a rather tough play, ŻÓŁTO-NIEBIESCY's Zbyszek Cwenar got a free kick in the 85th minute. Frank Sachs received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Gwidon Sienkowski tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 93 minutes, Bogdan Zakrzewski mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the ŻÓŁTO-NIEBIESCY and the Germany players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 93rd minute, Bogdan Zakrzewski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. ŻÓŁTO-NIEBIESCY had won after a very even match.
