After having played for 5 minutes, Kyle Cox managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. England's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kyle Cox was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Phoenix Fc booed when England was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Xavier Gallagher didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guga França in the 10th minute of play forced England's goalkeeper Khalid Kennedy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 11 minutes England's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Guga França who took care of the corner kick. Phoenix Fc's Alexandre Cunha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kyle Cox in the 16th minute of play. 23 minutes into the match, England's goalkeeper Khalid Kennedy had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Patrick Netto. In the 26th minute, Phoenix Fc's Patrick Netto dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Micah Macdonald managed to get in a good position for a shot. England's supporters rose to their feet, but Micah Macdonald was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alexandre Cunha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alexandre Cunha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kyle Cox, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Phoenix Fc's Alexandre Cunha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kyle Cox in the 35th minute of play. Kyle Cox received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Alexandre Cunha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Guga França took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 79th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Khalid Kennedy. England's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 81st minute Guga França shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Khalid Kennedy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Khalid Kennedy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Guga França, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Phoenix Fc made a substitution. Percival Arantes replaced Zeng Ping Wei. The supporters of Phoenix Fc booed when England was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leighton Davies didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 95 played minutes England got a freekick which was hit by Issac Dawson. The England supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing England would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
