After 10 minutes, Edgard Barros mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Club Atlético Atlanta and the Galo do Japi players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Galo do Japi booed when Club Atlético Atlanta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgard Barros didn't get a good kick on the ball. Chico Valadares who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 13thth minute tested the skills of Carlos Germano when he managed to save the team from getting behind. A hard shot 13 in the game by Chico Valadares from a close distance when the talented Carlos Germano managed to make a qualified save. Club Atlético Atlanta's players were relieved. In the 14th minute, Galo do Japi's Wilfredo Cefero dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Club Atlético Atlanta's Carlos Germano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chico Valadares in the 21st minute of play. Carlos Germano made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Wilfredo Cefero sent off a good shot on target. Delfim Chaves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paolo Caradaro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Laerte Moraes fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Galo do Japi's protests and gave Laerte Moraes a yellow card for diving instead. Paolo Caradaro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Delfim Chaves having to interfere. Chico Valadares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Carlos Germano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chico Valadares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 40th minute Eustaquio Jaizki shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Delfim Chaves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Galo do Japi's Laerte Moraes managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Abel Iban in the 41 minute of the game. In the 48th minute, Chico Valadares got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Wilfredo Cefero made a kick off. In the 55th minute of the match Galo do Japi got a corner. Club Atlético Atlanta's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Corryn Veloz ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Galo do Japi's corner Corryn Veloz fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Carlos Germano quite easily take care of the ball. If Chico Valadares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chico Valadares in the 57th minute of play forced Club Atlético Atlanta's goalkeeper Carlos Germano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A sloppy throw-in by Abel Iban in the 65th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Galo do Japi's Laerte Moraes. After 67 minutes of play, Galo do Japi's Chico Valadares made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Carlos Germano was left in no man's land by his defense there! After having played for 70 minutes, Wilfredo Cefero managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Galo do Japi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wilfredo Cefero was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Galo do Japi's Chico Valadares got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Corryn Veloz kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. Galo do Japi's Laerte Moraes quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Fabio Artaldo, made in the 89th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chico Valadares in the 94th minute of play forced Club Atlético Atlanta's goalkeeper Carlos Germano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 95 minutes into the game, Abel Iban threw the ball into play from the sideline. Galo do Japi's Laerte Moraes quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion.
