The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Nicolás Castillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Larry Tatum recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Norrlands Athen getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Tord Lundin hit a great ball. In the 12th minute Daniel Pimentel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manfred Fribäck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 13th match minute, Portugal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Pimentel to maneuver through the defense. Wilson Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicolás Castillo in the 14th minute of play. After some careless play in the Portugal defense, Nicolás Castillo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wilson Amorim. The Portugal fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wilson Amorim should have stopped the shot. Manfred Fribäck made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Viriato Moura in the 22nd minute of play. Manfred Fribäck showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felipe Barreto in the 23rd minute of the match. 26 minutes into the game, Viriato Moura cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Manfred Fribäck was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 30th minute, Jacinto da Silveira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 34th minute Caetano Moreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manfred Fribäck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manfred Fribäck showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felipe Barreto in the 35th minute of the match. 38 minutes into the match, Norrlands Athen's goal looked a bit too open when Viriato Moura came free, but Manfred Fribäck reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Norrlands Athen's Nicolás Castillo got a free kick in the 39th minute. In the 41st minute Viriato Moura shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manfred Fribäck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Viriato Moura in the 41st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Manfred Fribäck prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 43rd minute Viriato Moura shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manfred Fribäck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manfred Fribäck showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Viriato Moura in the 44th minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Viriato Moura was the one to do the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Norrlands Athen's goal looked a bit too open when Viriato Moura came free, but Manfred Fribäck reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Manfred Fribäck showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Viriato Moura, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Wilson Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicolás Castillo in the 57th minute of play. Norrlands Athen's Manfred Fribäck played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felipe Barreto in the 60th minute of play. Manfred Fribäck showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felipe Barreto in the 60th minute of the match. Norrlands Athen's Gilbert Hermansson was substituted for Nicolás Castillo. Norrlands Athen's Arvin Låsberg was substituted for Tord Lundin. Portugal's attentive Daniel Pimentel managed to snatch the ball when Jacinto da Silveira made a throw-in in the 63rd minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caetano Moreira in the 72nd minute of play forced Norrlands Athen's goalkeeper Manfred Fribäck to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Portugal's Bartolomeu Dias was substituted for Viriato Moura. A collision led to Portugal getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Bruno Bastos hit a great ball. The supporters of Portugal booed when Norrlands Athen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jacinto da Silveira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Manfred Fribäck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Faustino Almeida, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 81st minute of the match Portugal got a corner. Norrlands Athen's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Pimentel ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Norrlands Athen's goalie and right to Felipinho Amorim. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Norrlands Athen's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Felipinho Amorim's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 84thth minute, Manfred Fribäck skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Manfred Fribäck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bartolomeu Dias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Qian Zhen Sheng hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. Manfred Fribäck made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Felipinho Amorim sent off a good shot on target. In the 93rd minute, Arvin Låsberg ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wilson Amorim was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. The Portugal players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Norrlands Athen from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
