After 37 minutes, Carlinhos Schmidt mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Paranhos Ariranha FC and the Denmark players grew even worse after the yellow card. Carlinhos Schmidt kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Marco Fonseca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mikkel Wulff, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 40 minutes into the match, Denmark's goal looked a bit too open when Carlinhos Schmidt came free, but Keld Paulsen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Denmark's Chris Nygaard got a free kick in the 41st minute. 44 minutes into the game, Denmark's Chris Nygaard nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marco Fonseca made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Chris Nygaard was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Denmark's Bertram Svenningsen got a free kick in the 51st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Denmark's zone, Carlinhos Schmidt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Keld Paulsen came out of the goal and Carlinhos Schmidt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Mikkel Wulff had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paranhos Ariranha FC's Marco Fonseca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lars Steen in the 66th minute of play. Denmark were awarded a corner in the 67th minute after Paranhos Ariranha FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Chris Nygaard took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Chris Nygaard got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Marco Fonseca quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The crowd rose to their feet as Denmark's Simon Bendtsen slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Marco Fonseca. That made the score 2-3 after 70 minutes of play. Denmark's Simon Bendtsen managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Gino Paulista in the 75 minute of the game. Keld Paulsen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlinhos Schmidt in the 79th minute of the match. Abel Maia's late challenge caught a Denmark's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Abel Maia helped the player get up and apologised. After 82 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Paranhos Ariranha FC! Marco Fonseca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bertram Svenningsen, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. The audience was convinced that Carlinhos Schmidt's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Keld Paulsen was relentless in the 89th minute of the game. Marco Fonseca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bertram Svenningsen in the 91st minute of play. Denmark's Chris Nygaard got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 96 minutes into the game, Breno Braga was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Paranhos Ariranha FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Denmark the free kick. Paranhos Ariranha FC's Abel Maia got his second yellow card of the match in the 98th minute. The referee ordered Abel Maia off the ground. When Bertram Svenningsen came up free with the goalie in the 100th minute, the Denmark fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bertram Svenningsen couldn't finish the play.
