Sverker Hammarberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kyle Cox, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Kyle Cox fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sverker Hammarberg having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rolf Kihlberg during the 33rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 33rd match minute, Manchester United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rolf Kihlberg to maneuver through the defense. Issac Dawson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Sverker Hammarberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 44 played minutes, Manchester United's Kristian Överman shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Khalid Kennedy came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Manchester United reached it. Through an outstanding action, after 45 minutes, Khalid Kennedy successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jakob Caspersson was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute Jakob Caspersson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Khalid Kennedy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
